Wildlife on Drake Bay & Corcovado Tours

Fauna you may encounter on our Bahía Drake tours — Drake Bay, Corcovado, Sirena, San Josecito and Isla del Caño — from rainforest birds and mammals to Pacific marine life.

The Osa Peninsula holds one of the densest stretches of wildlife in Central America. On a typical Drake Bay day you may see scarlet macaws, howler and squirrel monkeys, coatis, and a long list of birds before you even reach Corcovado. On the water, turtles, rays, reef fish, and — in season — humpback whales share the Pacific with our boats.

What you see depends on the hour, the tide, and the season. Early walks are better for mammals and birds. Marine life is a matter of water clarity and migration calendars. We never chase animals or bait them for a photo.

This gallery is a field guide to species guests ask about most: rainforest mammals, birds of the Osa, and the marine life around Drake Bay and Isla del Caño. Use it to plan which tour fits the animals you hope to meet.
